First Steps Skills for Carers Workshops - For Those Supporting Somone with an Eating Disorder

First Steps is an eating disorder charity based in Derbyshire.

Supporting someone with an eating disorder can be extremely tough, especially as the support and understanding carers give can be crucial in helping their loved one.

Earlier in the year First Steps ran a series of 4 week 'Skills for Carers' workshops and further sessions will soon be announced for 2020 in Buxton, Derby and Long Eaton

These workshops help carers develop skills for tackling eating disorder difficulties, focusing on warmth, empathy and self-reflection. The workshops aim to help carers learn how to reduce resistance to change by directing people in a gentle, non-confrontational way towards finding their own solutions. The workshops cover different caring styles including the new Maudsley Method.

All First Steps workshops are delivered by their team of expert trainers, specialising in eating disorder management.  First Steps is also able to provide support materials in various formats.

In 2020 the courses will be held at the 3 locations: Derby, Buxton and Long Eaton. You must be willing to attend all 4 weeks of the course.
