Carers Rights Day 2020 - Know Your Rights

Carers Rights Day 2020 - Know Your Rights

Event Date: November 26 2020

Event Location: Online events

This year Carers UK's annual 'Carers Rights Day' is being held on Thursday 26 November. This year the theme is 'know your rights'.

Whether you are a new carer or have been caring for someone for a while, it's important that you understand your rights and are able to access the support that is available to you as soon as you need it. Each year, Carers Rights Day helps to:

  • ensure carers are aware of their rights
  • let carers know where to get help and support
  • raise awareness of the needs of carers.

There are a series of free online events happening in both Derbyshire and Derby city, including a legal workshop, caring and employment workshop, self care and a overall information session on carers rights.

Health, social care and voluntary sector partners are coming together across the city and county to reach out to carers and help make them aware of their rights during the pandemic and beyond. This includes providing advice on accessing health and care services, as well as requesting to accompany the person they support to appointments - as carers have voiced that this is an area they have struggled with during the pandemic.

Derbyshire Carers Association and Healthwatch Derbyshire have put together a series of top tips for carers to help them stay well during lockdown and beyond.

To find out more about your rights as a carer you can browse our carers rights section or read the blog we put together for Carers Rights Day last year.
